Pulsatilla General Information:

Pulsatilla vulgaris are one of the first to bloom in the spring. Cup-shaped flowers are produced in low-growing bunches. Leaves and stems are textured with long silvery hairs. When flowers fade, silky, tufts of downy seedheads remain. (Previously Anemone pulsatilla).

Pulsatilla Plant Care:

Needs a well-drained soil. Dislikes being divided or moved due to long taproot. Will self sow and young plants can be transplanted in spring more easily. Leave seed heads on for garden interest. Leaves disappear in summer after seedheads appear.
