Snow white flowers with butter-yellow crests nestle just above arching blades of green foliage. Native to eastern and central North America; it spreads nicely to form dense colonies. Ideal for a spring woodland garden or shady nook. Iris Tennessee White comes from Don Shadow Nursery in Winchester, TN. Its late spring show starts earlier and lasts longer than other Dwarf Crested Iris selections. Iris Tennessee White will tolerate some sun if soil is consistently moist, but still must be well-drained. Dwarf Crested Iris bloom early to provide a welcome nectar source for the first butterflies and bees on the garden scene.

Iris General Information

An excellent plant for early spring bloom in a shaded area of the rock garden, perennial border or woodland garden. Foliage forms a nice ground cover for woodland areas. May also be used as a seasonal ground cover or edger. Idaho has restricted all potted plant material from being shipped into Idaho at this time.

Iris Plant Care

Iris cristata are best grown in organically rich, well-drained soils in part shade. Will tolerate close to full shade. Soil must be kept consistently moist if grown in full sun. A nice ground cover on well-drained banks or slopes. Grows from rhizomes and can be divided after flowering is done with a sharp spade or pull apart entangled rhizomes.
