A giant for this species, it parades more vigorous flowering with huskier blooms. This charmer still maintains the petite stature of Dwarf Crested Iris. Soft lavender-blue 3” wide flowers with golden crests provide a carpet of color each spring. Does best in some shade.
Iris Powder Blue Giant will readily spread by branching rhizomes to form colonies of small sword-shaped leaves after the mid to late spring blooms have faded. A pleasing ground cover.
An excellent plant for early spring bloom in a shaded area of the rock garden, perennial border or woodland garden. Foliage forms a nice ground cover for woodland areas. May also be used as a seasonal ground cover or edger.
Idaho has restricted all potted plant material from being shipped into Idaho

Iris cristata are best grown in organically rich, well-drained soils in part shade. Will tolerate close to full shade. Soil must be kept consistently moist if grown in full sun. A nice ground cover on well-drained banks or slopes. Grows from rhizomes and can be divided after flowering is done with a sharp spade or pull apart entangled rhizomes.
