Enchanting bright blue-violet flowers have lighter bars, fluted edges and bright yellow stamens. Dramatically transforms a shorter fence into a pleasing wall of flowers. Blooms in June, July then again in late summer. An award winner.
Developed by Szczepan Marczynski of Poland and named for a Jesuit priest from Warsaw, Brother Stefan Franczak, a world-renowned Clematis breeder. Gracefully meandering over fences, trellises or through shrubbery; Clematis supply vertical interest. Every perennial garden should have at least one of these incredible vines.
Clematis are prized for their incredible flowers, most as large as your hand. "Queen of the Climbers" will train onto trellises, fences or arch over doorways. Stunning when used alone or when several colors are mixed. Grower's tip: Truest colors require full sun, as any shade will introduce purple tones. Flower color and bloom size may vary while the plant is establishing.
Pruning Type 2 - Flowers are produced on last year's growth, but pruning is recommended. In early spring, watch for swelling leaf buds beginning to show then prune to 3'. Also, loosely train/tie the vines to their trellis at this time also. If intertwining Clematis, pruning will be easier if you select varieties with the same pruning type.
