Asarum splendens 'Splendens'
Asarum is a low-maintenance plant great for shady borders or a woodland site. Will remain semi-evergreen in milder winters. Wild Ginger will spread quickly by underground rhizomes to form a thick mat. Ideal for smothering out any weeds. May overwinter in zone 5 with protection. Inconspicuous flowers are bell shaped an difficult to see without closely inspecting under the foliage.
Asarum is not picky about soil pH or type, but does prefer moist, slightly acidic organic soil in a well-drained site.
