Lily 'Red Velvet'
Exotic looking, but not fussy. Asiatic Lily are the first Lilies (Lilium) to bloom in summer in a wide variety of bold or pastel colors. They differ from Oriental Lilies in that the flowers have no fragrance. Use in borders and cutting gardens. Will multiply quickly.
Plant in fertile, moist, well-drained soil in full sun to light shade. Bulbs can rot in poorly drained soils. Plant 6" deep in groups of three for best display and space 6-12” apart. Cut off spent flower stalks once the petals have fallen, trimming them back to just above a pair of leaves. Leave as much stem and as many leaves as possible as they nourish the bulb for next year’s blooms. Do not remove or cut back stalks until complete dieback has occurred in the fall, it could weaken the bulb. Taller varieties will require staking.
