Ismene Plant Care

Hardy in Zones 8-10, these bulbs can be planted in ground or containers. Plant Ismene x festalis bulbs outdoors in the ground 4-5 inches deep, with the tip of the bulb 1-3 inches below the soil surface, in moist, humusy, well-drained soil with consistent moisture. In a container, plant with the neck of the bulb just above the soil surface. They thrive in full sun to partial shade and can tolerate sandy or clay soils but must never dry out. After flowering, cut stems to ground level. In zones 3-7, before the first frost, lift and store bulbs in a cool, dry location (around 50-59°F) in peat or perlite, taking care to retain as much root as possible.
