Fritillaria uva-vulpis 'Uva Vulpis'

Fritillaria General Information

Fritillaria uva vulpis add drama and intrigue to any garden, with their eye-catching unusual shape. Each plant stands on sturdy, upright stems, with green leaves and bell-shaped flowers in shades of purple to mahogany with a silvery sheen, golden yellow tips and interiors. Perfect for front-of-border planting, rock gardens, and containers. Their distinct faint odor has a natural advantage in keeping keep voles and other digging pests away

Fritillaria Plant Care

Plant 6-8" apart and 6" deep. Prefers organically rich, well-drained soils in full sun to dappled light shade. Needs consistent moisture throughout the growing season. Foliage dies back by early summer as the bulbs go dormant at which point they require less soil moisture. Can benefit from a winter mulch. Handle the bulbs gently and wear gloves when planting, as they are fragile and may cause skin irritation. Once planted, leave the bulbs undisturbed, as they dislike being moved and can naturalize over time.
