Violet-purple half-spherical flower heads rise on tall, leafless stems. A dramatic statement for the back of a border. This pollinator favorite is stunning in cut or dried flower arrangements. 3 bulbs per bag. Bulb size 10+ cm.
The flower heads of Allium Miami will age to a pleasing tan – great for dried flower arrangements. Alliums are elegant yet rugged. Their beauty supplies color with interesting flower shapes to create a garden design with texture and depth. Even smaller gardens can accommodate their vertical presence.
Alliums as a genus are easy-to-grow and come in a palette of colors, heights, flower shapes and bloom times. They provide long-lasting flowers ideal for bouquets and are sunny summer performers. Flowers dry to tan, and have remained upright all winter here in NE Ohio. A. Millenium is not used for culinary purposes.
*Please note: We are not permitted to ship Alliums to Idaho or the Washington counties of Adams, Benton, Franklin, Grant or Klickitat.
The smaller varieties of Allium should be planted 4" deep and the larger varieties 7-8" deep. Spacing 6-8". Likes well-drained soil. Clumps may be lifted and divided in either spring or fall. Allium will tolerate most soils, but performs best in sandy soils. Add organic matter like compost to clay soils if needed to improve drainage and lighten the soil.
