A striking accent to a shaded garden path. The dense foliage drapes nicely for a flowing cascade of bright color. Morning sun produces golden-yellow to vibrant chartreuse foliage with tips that color with significant deep crimson burgundy as the plants age. One of the best ornamental grasses for shade. The cascading golden foliage of Hakonechloa Sunflare lights up any shady spot. Deer resistant, a lovely contrast for container plantings and stunning beside a pond. Hakonechloa General Information

Hakonechloa are one of the best ornamental grass choices for shade. Likes a moist humusy soil, and good drainage. Cascades handsomely over itself. Ornamental Grasses are restricted from Idaho and Oregon. Idaho has restricted all potted plant material from being shipped into Idaho at this time.

Hakonechloa Plant Care

Prefers a uniformly moist, humus-rich soil in partial shade. If division is desired it should be done in the spring as new growth develops. In Northern zones plants will benefit from a layer of mulch for winter.
