Intense yellow flowers flaunt an inner red band. Temperature determines the width of the band, but flowers typically display more yellow than red. Irresistible in bouquets and adoring butterflies will thank you for having some in the garden. Extremely long blooming! Well-branched, mid-sized selection, flowers early on sturdy stems.

Gaillardia thrive in poor, sandy soils. The common name, blanket flower, refers to the resemblance to brightly patterned Native American blankets. Pairs nicely with the soft blues of perennial Geraniums.

Gaillardia General Information:

Extremely drought and heat tolerant, once established. From the early summer on, very showy banded flowers 'blanket' this plant. The ends of the petals have a torn, ruffled appearance. Butterflies are drawn to it.

Gaillardia Plant Care:

New plantlets can be started by cutting straight down along the side of a clump in midsummer. New plants will form at the severed roots. Completely carefee. Best in poor loose soils (no clay).
