Vibrant steel-blue globes of summer color. Silvery, strong foliage is spiny with downy undersides. Very colorful and drought tolerant. When Echinops Blue Glow is combined with Achillea or daylilies it will provide an interesting contrast of shape and color.

Echinops General Information

Echinops are not thistles despite their common name, Globe Thistle. Provides carefree late summer color. Does well in any soil. Provides good color and contrast in the perennial border, especially toward the back, or in the cut flower garden. Idaho has restricted all potted plant material from being shipped into Idaho at this time.

Echinops Plant Care

Deadhead initial blooms and several smaller shorter blooms will appear. Once done blooming, cut all flower stalks to the basal foliage and leave to overwinter. Clean up in spring. These plants are slow to recover after being moved or divided. Can be divided in early spring by carefully splitting a few offsets from the base of an established clump.
