Eremurus General Information

Eremurus grow from a tuberous root. In early spring, straplike leaves emerge and form a rosette at the base of the plant. Foxtail Lilies do not like to be crowded so be sure to provide generous spacing. Foliage will die back after flowering. Flowers will self sow.

Eremurus Plant Care

Prefers rich, well-draining soil in a full sun, dry spot and placed away from windy locations. Loosen soil and place each tuber with the pointed crown facing up and the starfish finger-like roots spread out. Cover with only 2-3” of soil. Areas with cold winter temps and inconsistent snow cover, should apply a 2” layer of mulch after the top of the ground freezes to protect from temperature spikes and early spring frosts. Remove mulch in early spring as growth resumes. Cover the tender shoots on cold nights until all danger of first as passed. Do not divide or transplant unless necessary – Eremurus does not like to be disturbed.
