Astrantia General Information

Flowerheads remain attractive for a long time. Astrantia is an old cottage-garden favorite, but works well in contemporary-style gardens, too. Perfectly suited towards the front of a mostly sunny site or at a woodland edge. Excellent filler plant and cut flower. Idaho has restricted all potted plant material from being shipped into Idaho at this time.

Astrantia Plant Care

Astrantia are happiest in a moist soil that drains well and would not be happy in a hot dry site. Remove spent flowers to prevent self-seeding. Can be cut back to new growth at base of plant if foliage declines in hot summers. Leave new basal growth for winter. Divide in spring or fall every 4-5 years.
