Silene flaunts colorful flowers and are easy to grow. The common name, Catchfly is due to its sticky stems and foliage. The stickiness tends to discourage insects from munching on its foliage. A great perennial for a woodland edge or in the front of a border.
Silene requires good drainage and minimal fertilization. They prefer a sunny site with some part afternoon shade with sandy or gravel-like soil. Leave undisturbed once established.
