Lovely Spilling Over Rock Walls
Sweetly compact, a sea of pink fragrant flowers blanket the emerald-green foliage from late spring to summer. Perfect for spilling over rock walls and cascading down a sunny slope. Its resistance to deer is another sought-after attribute that contributes to its consistent popularity. Rock Soapwort is quite attractive even when it's not in bloom. Can also be a good choice for tubs and pots. Saponaria gently self-sows and will quickly attain its full size. Saponaria Ocymoides will sweetly nestle at the base of your favorite plants for an ideal groundcover or edger. Foliage tends to be semi-evergreen.

Saponaria General Information

Saponaria are carpets of semi-evergreen trailing foliage. Delicate sprays of flowers cover the plant in early summer. If desired, prune back hard after flowering to promote more compact growth. Idaho has restricted all potted plant material from being shipped into Idaho at this time.

Saponaria Plant Care

Good in most soils, but good winter drainage is important. Prune/shear back by 1/2 after flowering if foliage needs freshening. Leave foliage alone for winter. Clean up in spring. Can be divided every 3 - 5 years in late summer or early spring.
