A Fragrant Sun Lover
Like ruffled creamy petticoats edged in burgundy, the double mini carnation-like flowers on sturdy stems tightly pack the emerald green foliage. Spicy-scented flowers are a cottage garden favorite. Dianthus Grace Bay is a versatile perennial at home in mixed borders, containers, butterfly, heirloom and cutting gardens. A sun-loving beauty! The more the flowers are cut, the more they bloom.

Dianthus General Information

Foliage remains evergreen in all but the coldest winters. Dianthus are garden classics, appearing in many shapes and colors, most with blue/green or blue frosted quill-like foliage. Long blooming, perfect for small bouquets-most are fragrant. A cottage garden is not complete without several Dianthus. All are heat tolerant and low maintenance beauties. Idaho has restricted all potted plant material from being shipped into Idaho at this time.

Dianthus Plant Care

Shear off old flowering stems and approximately 1/3 of the foliage after blooming. Foliage will quickly recover and look nice, even into winter. Prefers loose and sandy alkaline soils. Can be divided in spring every 2-3 years.
