Sorghastrum Indian Steel is a warm season clump-forming grass noted for its upright form and blue-green foliage. Indian grass provides four-season interest as it will retain some gold color throughout the winter. Tolerates a wide range of soils. This ornamental grass once covered large parts of the tallgrass prairie in the Midwest. An ideal grass for stabilizing slopes prone to erosion.

Sorghastrum General Information

Sorghastrum are noted for their narrow, upright habit and metallic blue foliage. Tolerant of a wide range of soils. Native to North American Prairies. Ornamental Grasses are restricted from Idaho and Oregon. Indian Grass is ideal for stabilizing slopes prone to erosion. Idaho has restricted all potted plant material from being shipped into Idaho at this time.

Sorghastrum Plant Care

Can be divided in spring when needed. Cut back in early spring to 3-4" before new growth appears.
