A fragrant mound of deepest green. Santolina have lemon-drop-sized yellow flowers that dance on wiry stems above pleasing foliage. Thrives on heat and does well even in poor soils. Shear after flowering. The pleasant aromatic foliage can be placed in a dresser drawer or linen closet to provide a soothing scent and will also deter moths.

Santolina General Information

Santolina are pleasantly aromatic. Pleasing button-shaped flowers in summer. Drought tolerant once established, Likes full sun and good drainage. Idaho has restricted all potted plant material from being shipped into Idaho at this time.

Santolina Plant Care

Low maintenance. Prefers poor to moderately fertile well-drained soil. For compact plants, shear to 6" in spring. Not fond of humid conditions. Benefits from winter mulch north of zone 6. Spent flower stalks can be sheared back to give a more tidy appearance.
