Nepeta 'Snowflake'
Nepeta are smothered with blossoms in summer. Likes sun and tolerates some drought once established. Catmint is not picky about soil, and its spreading form makes it a good choice for meadows, naturalized areas, and cottage gardens. It works well in containers, planted along walkways, or nestled between rocks in a rock garden. One of the best plants to edge or underplant a rose bed. Cats enjoy it as much as catnip.
Easily grown in average, dry to medium, well-drained soils in full sun to part shade. Prefers dryish, not especially fertile soil and is tolerant of drought once established. In northern areas, site plants in full sun. In the deep South, plant in areas with some light afternoon shade. Plants may be cut back to 4-6” in early spring before first flowering to promote a more compact size. Shear flower spikes by about 2/3 around July, after initial flowering, to promote continued bloom to end of summer. Can be divided every 3 - 4 years in spring.
