Exotic orchid-like flowers nestle near stem tips atop crisp bright-green foliage. The bi-colored white hooded flowers flash a plum-purple lower lip hemmed with a lacy-edged white scallop. Foliage is heavily veined for a quilted look. Flowers and foliage both emit a honey scent.

With its nectar/pollen rich flowers, Melittis Royal Velvet Distinction is a valuable pollinator attractor. Commonly called Honey Balm, it is best suited to dappled shade in a moist and well-drained soil.
