The deep magenta flowers of Rose Campion provide excellent color contrast with its stunning silver-woolly leaves. The flowers of Lychnis open one at a time on branched silver stems, but they do so over a long blooming period in summer. This is an time-honored flower which will add a bright spot to the perennial border or rock garden.

Lychnis General Information

Lychnis are old-fashioned, hardy, trouble-free plants. Reliable and long lived. Flowers are attractive to butterflies, and possibly even hummingbirds. Rose campion provides good cut flowers. Idaho has restricted all potted plant material from being shipped into Idaho at this time.

Lychnis Plant Care

Cut back plant by 1/3 when first blooms begin to fade. Divide periodically in spring. Will self sow. Prefers a well-drained site. Can be pinched back to control height.
