Sakura means cherry blossom in Japanese and the rosy-pink clusters of semi-double blooms in spring are as welcome as the treasured blossoming cherry trees. The thick waxy green foliage, each leaf measuring 8”, transforms to deep plum tones in winter.

Rub the leathery leaves between two fingers after a summer rain to discover why this lovely plant would have such an unusual common name, Pig Squeak. Kids of all ages love trying this! Stunning in mass.
