Betula x plettkei 'Cesky® Gold' (Pending 'Golden Treasure' Can 5,637 CBR#5637)

Betula General Information

Betula is a genus of about 60 species of deciduous trees and shrubs found throughout the northern hemisphere. This hybrid was created to combine the compact growth habit of Betula nana (Dwarf Birch) with some characteristics of Betula pendula (European White Birch). Developed in the Czech Republic, hence the "Cesky" in its cultivar name. Genus name is the Latin name for Birch

Betula Plant Care

Dwarf Birch thrives best in moist, acidic, sandy or rocky, well-drained loams in full sun to part shade. Best foliage color in full sun, but will benefit from afternoon shade in warmer zones. Consistent moisture is crucial, avoid excessively dry sites or waterlogging. Allow it to grow naturally, where its attractive, fan-like habit can be enjoyed, or prune it into a shape, like a low hedge. Prune only during the dormant season, avoiding winter or spring when sap is running. As new growth emerges in spring apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer.

Plantable Pots

Our plants are grown in 3.5x3.5x4” plantable pots. Made from 100% biodegradable coconut husk fibers (coir), these pots have tremendous advantages over plastic pots. With better air exchange, this "breathable" pot fosters robust root growth and reduces transplant shock since you can plant the pots directly in the ground. The pot naturally becomes part of the soil on its own over time—no composting required—and since they're made from a renewable resource that requires very little energy, they're earth-friendly too!
