Flower Color / Accent:
Soft powdery blue sea urchins on land. Festuca Elijah's Blue has excellent color retention all season with stiff foliage, and pronounced seed fronds. One of the best blue fescues. Attractive, feathery tan seed heads complement the blue foliage and resemble wheat. Domed-shaped habit lends itself to a stunning accent plant or a great edger.
Features to Note:
- Deer Resistant
- OK in containers - see FAQ for overwintering
- For a sunny spot
- Hot Dry site tolerant
Festuca are charming dwarf ornamental grasses which perfer dry to medium soils. Best color is attained in full sun but will tolerate light shade. Ornamental grasses are restricted from Oregon.
In spring cut back to 3-4 if needed. Division should be done in spring every 2-3 years to keep blue fescue at its best.
