A handsome plant in the border with purple globe-shaped double blooms, graced with white on top blending into a deep lavender blue. Globes are held on silvery stalks above the grey-green basal foliage. Good for cutting. Best in a rich, evenly moist soil.

Primula General Information:

Primula capitata are native to Tibet and southwestern China. Globe-shaped flower clusters held above basal rosettes of oblong serrated green leaves. Blooms late spring into early summer. Grow in a an evenly moist soil. Great plant for a rock garden or shady pond area.

Primula Plant Care:

Prefers moist, compost-rich soil. May benefit from afternoon shade in hot summers. Can be divided every 2- 3 years right after bloom or in early fall. Be sure to replant crown just above soil surface. Cut back to 1/2 after blooming to encourage reblooms in fall.
