Massive Impact! Aptly named, this giant produces 7’ wide dome-shaped mounds of blue green corrugated heart-shaped leaves. Bluest foliage color in spring. Bell shaped flowers shoot upwards from this 'whale' to form ‘spouts’ of white in early summer. Leaves go to blue/green in summer.

Humpback Whale Hosta was developed by the late breeder Mildred Seaver who was known among Hosta enthusiasts as the “Queen of Hostas”. In her lifetime, she registered 95 new varieties. Hosta thrive in shade, even in competition with tree roots, hurray! It is hard to find a garden that won’t benefit from incorporating some Hosta.

Features to Note:

  • Attracts Hummingbirds
  • Humidity Tolerant

Hosta General Information:

Hosta display lush foliage in diverse colors, heights, and textures. Their ability to excel in deep shade have captured gardener's hearts everywhere.

Hosta Plant Care:

Hostas are low maintenance. Unwanted or damaged leaves can be clipped off at the base at any time. The entire plant will die back for the winter and spent foliage can usually be raked or clipped off easily in late fall or early spring. Can be divided in spring or fall every 3-5 years if desired. Remove the flower stalks at any time, especially if seeding is not wanted (but birds do love the seed).
