The variegation is more pronounced in part shade and will take on more of a lime-green color if placed in full shade. Hakonechloa Aureola spills nicely over edges of walkways or low walls. Hakonechloa General Information:

Hakonechloa are one of the best ornamental grass choices for shade. Likes a moist humusy soil, and good drainage. Cascades handsomely over itself. Ornamental grasses are restricted from Oregon.

Hakonechloa Plant Care:

Prefers a uniformly moist, humus-rich soil in partial shade. If division is desired it should be done in the spring as new growth develops. In Northern zones plants will benefit from a layer of mulch for winter.
