Echinops are not thistles despite their common name, Globe Thistle. Highly ornamental with silvery pointed foliage and deeply divided green basal leaves. Provides carefree late summer color. Does well in any soil and dries well for winter bouquets.
Deadhead initial blooms and several smaller shorter blooms will appear. Once done blooming, cut all flower stalks to the basal foliage and leave basal foliage to overwinter. Clean up in spring. These plants are slow to recover after being moved or divided. Can be divided in early spring by carefully splitting a few offsets off the base of an established clump.
Our plants are all grown in plantable fiber pots that grow incredibly vigorous plants, eliminate transplant shock, and are 100% biodegradable. They have tremendous advantages over plastic pots.
