Large paper-thin petals form a bowl around the Oriental poppy’s dark ornamental centers. Sunlight makes the translucent dark red petals positively glow with color. The foliage forms a clump that persists over winter in small tufts. The fascinating seedpods will add a nice touch to dried arrangements. The blossoms are a favorite for butterflies, hummingbirds and bees.
