HEPTACODIUM MICONOIDES : Northern Crape Myrtle, Seven Son Flower, SHRUBS

HEPTACODIUM MICONOIDES- Seven Son Flower - Tall 15' - Plant 20' apart Zone 5-9. A tree of unusual beauty. The flower buds first open in late summer; seven white stars to each terminal bud. The calyces then persist on the seven fruits and turn bright reddish-purple, becoming even more showy than the flowers themselves. These last into late fall. The shaggy tan bark is also very decorative and exfoliates to reveal a cinnamon colored underlayer. Most colorful in full sun. HECMP
