CALLICARPA Early Amethyst - Purple Beautyberry - Tall 3-4' - Plant 5' apart zone 5-8. This one has been brought to our attention by the Arnold Arboretum. Rounded bushy habit, with arching branches. In the summer months small lavender-pink flowers color the center of the leaf, but it is the fruit clusters of amethyst-purple ripening in September thru Novermber that are so decorative. CAEAP

General Information
Grown for the conspicuous clusters of berries in fall. Nice rose-purple fall foliage color as well.

Plant Care
Prune in early spring after danger of prolonged frost is past. Best to thin out some older canes each year to the base to decrease congestion.
