Award winning selection has striking purple-black lacey foliage in full sun. In warmer climates (zone 8), in our experience, the deeply cut foliage is striking but not quite as dark. Flowers are pink and up to 6" across, making a handsome show against the foliage. Black Lace will self-pollinate but will achieve greater fruit production when another variety of Sambucus nigra is planted in the area. Patented.

- Fragrant
- For a sunny spot

- Deer Resistant
General Information:
Sambucus are deciduous multi-stemmed shrubs grown for foliage color and fruit. The berries are edible, once cooked, and can be harvested to make elderberry wine or jam. Adaptable to most soils. Bird and wildlife friendly.
Plant Care:
Responds well to hard pruning each spring, or can be left alone, removing suckers and some old wood each spring. Sambucus blooms on old wood.
