Plant crown level with soil. Resembles a miniature poker plant with flowers opening from the bottom and progressing up the spike. Leaves are upright and spear shaped. Does not do well in hot sun.
Prefers moist, compost-rich soil. May benefit from afternoon shade in hot summers. Can be divided every 2- 3 years right after bloom or in early fall. Be sure to replant crown just above soil surface. Cut back to 1/2 after blooming to encourage reblooms in fall.
Our plants are all grown in plantable fiber pots that grow incredibly vigorous plants, eliminate transplant shock, and are 100% biodegradable. They have tremendous advantages over plastic pots.
