Shimmering purple/blue blossoms with deeply cut silver foliage. Stunning airy blossoms on shrubby, branching soft silvery-gray stems. Perovskia's fern-like aromatic foliage will take your breath away. Perennial Plant Association 1995 Plant of the Year.
Perovskia are graceful aromatic shrubs with an open habit. Long spikes of silvery-blue flowers accent its complementary silver-gray foliage. Flowers almost two months from the summer into the fall. Shrub size semi-woody plants for full sun. Drought tolerant. Avoid too moist (wet feet).
Prefers somewhat dry soil with good drainage. To obtain fuller plants, pinch back by 1/2 when they reach 12. Will benefit from gravel mulch. Can be divided every 4 - 6 years in spring or fall. Offsets from side of clump can be dug and transplanted. Shouldn't be cut back further than 1' after frost in the fall, leaving some stem buds for next year's growth. Clean up old foliage and stems in spring.
