A nonstop dazzler if you avoid too rich a soil. Delicate, tangerine cup-shaped blossoms of Oenothera Sunset Boulevard fade to crimson on maroon tinged stems like a sunset. Upright habit, blooms form on spikes with narrow lance-shaped foliage. Absolutely glows when backlit by the sun. Long blooming.
General Information:
Oenothera are colorful cup-shaped flowers that open late in the day and close the following morning. These colorful varieties make fine additions to borders and rock gardens alike. Avoid wet feet. Fills in rapidly so give it plenty of room. Not fussy as to soil type.
Plant Care:
This trouble free plant is tolerant of poor, dry soil and self sows readily. After flowering, can be sheared back by 1/3 and shaped for nice forms in the garden. Can be divided in spring or fall every 4 - 5 years or as needed to control spread.
