Leaves are a lighter green with a dark edge. Leaves mature to more gold with a green edge as season progresses. Lavender flowers early. The horizontal habit of Hosta Gold Standard makes this a good choice for mass plantings.

Hosta thrive in shade, even in competition with tree roots, hurray! It is hard to find a garden that won't benefit from incorporating some Hosta.

Deadheading will improve the appearance of Hosta, but birds love the seeds, and some Hosta will self sow, but not usually true to the parent. Remove soupy frozen foliage in the late fall or early spring. Can be divided in spring or fall every 3-5 years.
