Each blue-green, heart-shaped leaf is edged in chartreuse that will gradually soften to creamy white. In midsummer, pale lavender flowers rise from these impressive clumps. Hosta of the Year in 2009 by the American Hosta Growers.

Hosta thrive in shade, even in competition with tree roots, hurray! It is hard to find a garden that won't benefit from incorporating some Hosta.

Deadheading will improve the appearance of Hosta, but birds love the seeds, and some Hosta will self sow, but not usually true to the parent. Remove soupy frozen foliage in the late fall or early spring. Can be divided in spring or fall every 3-5 years.
