Extra large pink flowers with a copper-brown cone. A long lasting cut flower. Where classic coneflower's petals point down, E. Magnus' are held more horizontally. The bicolor effect from this variety is due to the blooms intense color fading as they age. Perennial Plant Association 1998 Plant of the Year.
General Information:
Echinacea are considered one of the finest border plants. Flower petals radiate downward from a pronounced central seed head. Butterflies love the flowers, birds love the seeds, and we love the generous long-lasting bouquets. Carefree plants, flowers abound in early summer, then continue until frost.
Plant Care:
Easy to grow, prolific bloomer. Deadheading will prevent seeding, but birds are crazy about the seeds, and the seedheads are attractive in the winter, especially in the snow. If removing them, leave the foliage at the base of the plant to overwinter. May be slow to emerge in the spring. These generally don't need to be divided, but can be divided in early spring or early fall.
