Sweetly fragrant flowers that change from white, to pink, to deep rose-all typically appearing at the same time from April to frost. The foliage is more upright, forming a jumble of green-blue leaves with flowers dancing above. Dianthus First Love is one of our longest flowering perennials. Common name, Pinks, is due to the intricate fringed petals that appear as though they were cut with pinking shears. Mounding foliage is attractive, even in winter. A Plant Select® introduction.

Dianthus General Information:

Dianthus are garden classics, appearing in many shapes and colors, most with blue/green or blue frosted quill-like foliage. Long blooming, perfect for small bouquets-most are fragrant. A cottage garden is not complete without several Dianthus. All are heat tolerant and low maintenance beauties.

Dianthus Plant Care:

Shear off old flowering stems and the top couple inches of foliage after blooming. Foliage will quickly recover and look nice, even into winter. Prefers loose and sandy alkaline soil. Can be divided in spring every 2-3 years.
