Showy star-shaped huge (6") purple-red flowers with contrasting creamy yellow anthers on compact plants. Vino Clematis is excellent for the smaller garden or as a container plant, good for cut flowers. Blooms May, June and August.
Clematis are prized for their large, showy flowers. "Queen of the climbers" will train onto trellises, fences, or arch over doorways. Only needs to have its roots shaded and its flowers in the sun. Stunning when used alone or when several colors are mixed. Note: Flower color and bloom size may vary while the plant is establishing.
Pruning Type 2 - In this group all first flowering comes from last season's ripening stems. In early Spring watch for swelling leaf buds beginning to show. Cut all dead material off above these swelling buds. Be sure all growth is tied to the trellis, etc. at this time. Do not tie too tightly, so growth will not be hampered or cracked.
