Very fragrant vanilla scent! Montana varieties are easy to grow, very prolific and vigorous. Clematis Mayleen has 2-3" ruffled satin pink flowers in May and June. This premium variety is at the forefront of Clematis breeding - form and coloration are truly breathtaking.
Clematis are prized for their incredible flowers, most as large as your hand. "Queen of the Climbers" will train onto trellises, fences, or arch over doorways. Stunning when used alone or when several colors are mixed. Grower's tip: Truest colors require full sun, as any shade will introduce purple tones. Flower color and bloom size may vary while the plant is establishing.
Pruning Type 1 - Flowers are produced from old stems, so pruning is done immediately after flowering has stopped. Prune by removing all dead and weak stems immediately after flowering. Larger, older plants (over 15') are normally not pruned, especially if growing in trees. Tie stems into place after flowering. New growth will begin, and these are the stems for next year's flowers.
