The red 5-6" flowers with intense purple bars of Clematis Bourbon highlight the contrasting yellow anthers. Blooms July to early August. Patented.
Shorter in length, this variety is perfect for growing in containers but equally content when grown in the ground and clambering up a trellis.
Clematis are prized for their large, showy flowers. "Queen of the Climbers" will train onto trellises, fences, or arch over doorways. Stunning when used alone or when several colors are mixed. Grower's tip: Truest colors require full sun, as any shade will introduce purple tones. Flower color and bloom size may vary while the plant is establishing.
Pruning Type 2: Flowers are produced on last year's growth, but pruning is recommended. In early spring watch for swelling leaf buds beginning to show. Cut all dead material off above these swelling buds. Also, loosely train/tie the vines to their trellis at this time also.
