A non-seeding compact redbud from the National Arboretum. This shrub is completely engulfed in rosy mauve flowers in early Spring before the leaves appear. Great for smaller sites; and such a wonderful performer-a welcome sight in spring.
General Information:
Cercis are deciduous shrubs with impressive flowering. Branches covered from tip to the ground with blossoms in early spring. Needs a well drained soil. Will tolerate an acidic soil.
Plant Care:
No pruning necessary. OK to shape or remove any frost damaged shoots in early summer. Mature specimens do not transplant well, due to the deep tap root.
