Thick glossy rich green leaves are evergreen and plants will slowly expand to make a great groundcover. Leaves take on an eye-catching deep red cast in fall as temperatures drop. Bergenia Red beauty has magnificent carmine red flower clusters held on stiff stems from March to May. Attractive in rock gardens, or as a charming filler plant.
General Information:
Bergenia are valued for attractive foliage and flowers. Leathery, waxed leaves add structure, texture and changing color. A good performer even in difficult sites. Slowly and reliably fills in. Clusters of blooms are framed by foliage nicely.
Plant Care:
No special care needed. Clean up in spring if needed. Truly maintenance free. Divide in spring every 3-4 years or so when clump opens up in center. Does not like "wet feet".
