Baptisia Twilight produces impressive 24” long flower spikes. Deep purple buds transform into smoky violet-purple flowers with a glowing lemon yellow base called a keel. Flowers resemble sweet peas and extend above the attractive blue-green foliage. The fascinating charcoal black seedpods add a nice touch to dried arrangements. General Information:
Baptisia are extremely long-lived. Give it plenty of room as it will be 3' tall and just as wide. Flower spikes rise above the upright, vase-shaped habit graced with pea-shaped blossoms. Fall brings added interest with black seedpods highlighting the bluish-green foliage.
Plant Care:
Can be slow to establish but will reach shrub like proportions. Good in poor soils. Dislikes being moved when mature. Late fall or spring cleanup may be preferred. Cut to 4-6" when foliage blackens with the cold.
