Baptisia Alba, presents us with 12 long flower spikes that produce small milky white flowers resembling sweet peas and extend above the attractive clover like blue green foliage. Seed pods often remain attached to the bare winter stems.

Baptisia General Information:

A very permanent and arresting perennial with a vase shape, 3-4' tall. Blue/green foliage on silver stems is topped by soft lupine-like flowers from late spring into summer. The black seedpods can be left on for additional ornamental effect or used in dried arrangements. Extremely long lived, so pick a good spot!

Baptisia Plant Care:

Can be slow to establish but will reach shrub like proportions. Good in poor soils. Dislikes being moved when mature. Late fall or spring cleanup may be preferred. Cut to 4-6 when foliage blackens with the cold.
