As pretty as, and very similar to Campanula. The tall erect, leafy stems, of Adenophora Amethyst are topped in early summer with drooping, flaring, bell-shaped, amethyst blue flowers that are mildly fragrant. Makes a nice vertical accent for the middle of a perennial border.

Features to Note:

  • Good for Cut Flowers
  • Blooms for 4 weeks or more
  • For a sunny spot

General Information:

Adenophora are profuse bloomers with many spikes of colorful bells in summer. Give them room to spread to make a spectacular show en masse. Deadheading will prevent seeding, and a barrier will help with running if spread is not wanted. A better choice than Campanula for southern gardens.

Plant Care:

Cut plants down to basal foliage in fall, clean up in spring. May be pinched back in May to promote bushiness. Difficult to divide due to deep roots. Long lived.
